                Tooth Decay

TOOTH DECAY is an infection of the tooth enamel by specific bacteria

or by another name dental plaque or BIOFILM

It takes about 18 months of plaque infection for tooth decay  to become visible to Xray as well as visually

Early decay can be treated with medications i.e NO DRILL
Once decay has penetrated to a certain depth
Then drilling and filling is required
So think about this when decay is found on a tooth it has been there in some form for quite a while ( there are exceptions)
